Notes of cherry tobacco and plums evoke cherished childhood memories. A Bordeaux inspired blend in memory of our family matriarch; Granny Kay.

Bonnievale is a small district of the Robertson wine Valley, and is definitely different in terroir from Robertson itself. Though we have planted all six Bordeaux cultivars on Doornbosch this vintage only contains four of the six.

The Merlot and Cabernet Franc are planted on deep red clay soils, a pocket we felt would be perfect to create deep intense fruit flavours with row directions north east to south west  to optimise sunlight hours. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère are planted on the shale ‘koppies’ of the farm. On these two blocks the row directions are south east to south west to protect against the strong south easterly wind in summer. The shale also helps to maintain perfect balance between vegetation and the bunch formations.
